The Vivid Sydney festival - a "public festival of music, light  and ideas" - has just wrapped up in Sydney, over the weekend. One of the interesting aspects of the festival was a public piece called "Smart Light Fields".

A collaboration between Joanne Jakovich and Jason McDermott of Anarchi.Org and Metropolis Connecting Cities, Smart Light Fields is is an interactive display tracking the paths of people visiting the various installations that make up the Vivid Sydney festival.

Members of the public who activated bluetooth on their mobile phones were picked up at the different areas, and their movements were tracked and displayed. The constantly changing screen could be viewed at Customs House and also live online at www.anarchi.org/live.php.
