Popup Monograph
This is something a little different. Wendy Evans Joseph is releasi
ng a monograph of their work featuring everyone's favourite memory of childhood books - popups.
“Wouldn’t it be nice to see a bridge as if it really came out at you,”
The book features a wide range of work, with some of the projects literally jumping out of the page at you. It also has various pull-outs tabs and other features to discover.
This isn't the first time this has been done - in fact I'm fairly sure there is a pop-up book of Frank Lloyd Wright's work floating around somewhere. But Architecture books seem to be the perfect place for the sort of innovation (or gimmick, depending on your point of view).
It is certainly an avenue that deserves to be further investigated, and I'm sure we will see some interesting books being released in the future that utilise it well.
