The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces

This is a great little clip from a longer piece from back in the 70’s that looks into they way the design of public spaces affects the way that people use them. It is only a small piece (about 10 minutes) of the whole, but there are some great snippets of insight contained in there.

The High Line

A great article about the design of The High Line as an object. The High Line is a section of old rail track in Manhattan that has been reborn as a park and public space.

Smart Light Fields

The Vivid Sydney festival – a “public festival of music, light  and ideas” – has just wrapped up in Sydney, over the weekend. One of the interesting aspects of the festival was a public piece called “Smart Light Fields“.

Architecture Lego

I have fond, fond memories of growing up playing with Lego. We used to have all the pieces wrapped up in a sheet (placed in a box) and when we wanted to play, we would lay the sheet out, and could survey every piece in the collection. The possibilities were endless.
